I have watched that movie and it was incredibly good! I always wonder how society/communities oppress and feel it is ok? Australia sanctioned SA and lifted their noses at us and still do, SA was an incredibly oppresive place BUT, and while doing this they have effectively killed the Aboriginal culture, plundered their resources, and murdered them. Also in the USA I find the level of denial as to the social issues very troublesome! Is it a human characteristic that we have to have the "untouchables" and the powerful? It seems to such a strong feature in all "civilized" groups.
This is the course blog for an advanced methods seminar taught at the University of Washington by Philip Bell & Heather Zimmerman. The course will explore issues associated with the practicalities of fieldwork, epistemology, modes of analysis with various forms of data and purposes, ethical issues, and trends in reporting ethnographic work.
